Everyone is nice here. The issue I had with today’s visit is with whoever made the poor decision of not honoring their “mistake” deal posted all over Facebook. I purposely went solely for a deal that I kept seeing online the entire past week…”National homemade day.” It was BOGO 50% off small waffle cone orders. “Great, that’s what my daughter and I normally order anyway. It’ll be a fun first day of spring break thing to do” I thought. But when I went to order-They said that “the ad was a mistake” and they couldn’t do that deal, but could do bogo 50% without the waffle cones…in cups instead. Ice cream in cups is not the same magical experience. My point of this review is that it doesn’t matter if that was a mistake post, it’s the principal of it and basic good customer service skills if you’re trying to keep the customers. People purposely went for that deal, meaning it drove more customers than they would normally see- so Brusters should have owned up to it, appreciated the extra customers they got from seeing that ad, and understood that people spent their expensive gas to get there on a day they normally don’t go…and just honor the deal. Had they honored the deal (entirely..not just cups instead) for the people who went specifically for it, I wouldn’t be posting a negative review. To save a few bucks in waffle cones vs. getting a less than positive review and potentially losing long term customers was not a good idea. That left a bitter taste in my mouth and while I love supporting small businesses in general and especially Brusters, it made me think differently of Brusters. If this place is frugal and won’t honor mistakes they make and fix them so simply, I’m not sure I want to come that often anymore, honestly. Thats just not good customer service to not honor a deal that drove more customers there in the first place, making it a good profitable day anyway. It was off putting and misleading.
